Grand Rapids Chair Company is America’s leading provider of chairs and tables for commercial environments: restaurants, hotels, hospitals, medical offices, corporations, arenas, banks, casinos, churches, cruise ships, malls, stadiums, theaters – and anywhere else hospitality is extended to guests.
We make a wide range of chairs and barstools in wood, metal and aluminum styles, plus steel-base tables with a tremendous variety of surface and edge options. Our customers are concentrated in North America, South America and the Caribbean Islands, but we serve a worldwide clientele – including McDonald’s® franchises, which have made our Melissa® Series of chairs (and the line’s nesting variations, Emma™ and Liz™), into fast-food icons.
All in the Family
Grand Rapids Chair is a family-owned business that started in Grand Rapids, Michigan in 1997. The company was founded by Dave Miller, a former executive with fine furniture-maker John Widdicomb, Inc. Dave still heads the company and has been joined by several of his family members – and a whole lot of additional employees who’ve become family. Currently, we employ more than 110 people and maintain 150,000-sq. ft. of manufacturing and administrative space.

From the beginning, we’ve been committed to American manufacturing. While our competition imports more and more table and chair assemblies from overseas, we make all of our products right here in Grand Rapids, MI. That’s a large part of the reason we can customize our products so readily – we’re not dependent on a foreign operation to ship us product. It’s also the reason why our lead times are the envy of the industry – 70% of all our orders ship within two weeks.
Building Green
We are also committed to sustainability. We purchase steel from mills that utilize scrap metal to make their final products, source wood only from certified renewable forests, use a water-based wood finishing system, and much more. You can read all about it in our environmental brochure.
