Introducing the New Alfred Collection
Explore the most comfortable product Grand Rapids Chair Company has produced to date.
Alfred, a notable new seating collection focused on comfort and sophistication. Alfred is distinguished by a fully upholstered seat and back met with striking, snug angles--making it the most comfortable product Grand Rapids Chair Company has produced to date.
Designed by industrial designer Paul James, Alfred can be described as inviting, nostalgic, and angular. The pointed silhouette is reminiscent of an open book while the overall aesthetic takes cues from a ‘70s-style bucket chair. The multi-panel cushioned back subtly envelopes the body, creating a leisurely and intimate seated experience. Alfred is a versatile chair and barstool collection that fits within restaurants, bars, and ancillary spaces alike.
According to director of marketing at Grand Rapids Chair Company, Dean Jeffery, Alfred is the manufacturer’s interpretation of resimercial design. “After years of unfinished wood and galvanized steel, we’re seeing the market opt for softer, more refined shapes and textures. Think generously cushioned seats, more upholstered pieces, and couches and lounges in unlikely commercial spaces. Alfred embraces that yearning for domestic comfort and style while still maintaining commercial standards for durability and quality.”
The Alfred seating collection is made entirely in the company’s Grand Rapids factory. The seating line showcases the company’s mastery in upholstery and steel fabrication.. Customers can specify up to three different fabrics for the multi-panel seat and back while the base can be powder coated in any of the 29 standard colors or opt for a custom color.
