3 Half Hurdle Barstool Installs we Love
With the launch of our latest product, the Half Hurdle barstool, we wanted to share a few of our favorite restaurant installs featuring the modern barstool in action.
Dowel Jones originally launched the taller version of their now famous Half Hurdle chair in 2017, debuting the design at Salone del Mobile. This month, the Half Hurdle barstool is finally available in North America. For those that don’t know who Dowel Jones is, don’t fret, you can learn about this Australian design duo here. They are making big waves in the design world with their innovative furniture and lighting products.
With the launch of our latest product, the Half Hurdle barstool (now proudly manufactured in America by Grand Rapids Chair Co), we wanted to share a few of our favorite restaurant installs featuring the modern barstool in action.
Melt
It’s hard to say what we love more, good pizza or good restaurant design, but thanks to the third location of restaurateur Simon Kardachi’s Melt Pizzeria, we don’t have to choose. With room for almost 200 diners, the third location of Melt is by far their largest yet. Situated in a laid-back coastal suburb of Henley, this restaurant features stunning seaside views and a muted palette of colors and textures. Designers Studio-Gram drew inspiration from the sea and sand to create an atmosphere that invites customers to relax and enjoy, successfully achieving a contemporary, beachy interior. Expansive openings allow natural light and a gentle breeze to sweep through the space, keeping things bright and airy. Perfectly placed plants, pink booths, sage green tiles, and crisp white Half Hurdle barstools offer a much needed respite from cliche seersucker and buoy-themed restaurants that plagued my childhood vacations to Florida.
Fine + Fettle
Another Instagram-friendly cafe, another delicious brunch, and another perfectly styled, made-to-order salad, what’s not to love? With Fine+Fettle, designed by Georgie Shepherd Interiors, you get all of that and more! Timber clad feature walls and overhead greenery helps create a cool, yet approachable space, without an ounce or pretentiousness. Black Half Hurdle barstools complement the warm woods and ground the natural elements of the dining room.
Glaze Teriyaki
Made-from-scratch, ingredient driven teriyaki… need we say more? Founded in 2010 in NYC by Paul Krug, Glaze is an elevated fast casual chain that serves fresh, house-made, small batch teriyaki sauces, salad dressings, proteins, and inspired sides all at reasonable prices. With eight locations across the country (and plans to double over the next few years), the restaurants all feature an open kitchen with a laid-back West Coast atmosphere full of light woods, navy, and live plants. Glossy white Half Hurdle barstools help make this flagship location, designed by Sweatshop Studios, feel more like an all-day cafe than a teriyaki shop, adding a modern, design-forward element. Excellent branding and ceramic dishware differentiate this place from other competitors in the category.
